Fairmont Hotels and Resorts is revamping and rebranding the former Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles’ Century City district. Originally designed by late architect Minoru Yamasaki, the midcentury modern landmark will reopen as the Fairmont Century Plaza with a new design by Yabu Pushelberg this fall. The revitalized property will debut as the centerpiece of a $2.5 billion mixed-used development that is slated for completing in spring 2021, and will feature more than 94,000 square feet of retail and dining space across six acres.
Fairmont Century Plaza will be home to 400 luxury guestrooms and suites, as well as 63 private residences. Modern American brasserie Lumière will be the signature onsite eatery, while a rooftop pool on the 17th floor will also host a bar concept. The 14,000-square-foot Fairmont Spa Century Plaza will comprise experiential showers, a samarium, Himalayan salt room, aromatherapy steam room, hammam, and more. An additional 24,000 square feet of event space—including a 1,500-seat ballroom—will round out on the onsite amenities.
