Local design firm FBEYE International has completed work on the Oakwood Studios in Singapore’s Orchard Road district. The firm was tapped to oversee interiors for public and communal areas of the U.S.-based service apartments and lodging concept.
“Oakwood Studios exudes a stylish, relevant, creative, and entrepreneurial home,” says FBEYE International managing director Warren Foster-Brown. “We wanted to design a thought-provoking and inspirational venue that appeals to everyone, all the while setting a new standard for service apartments and hospitality alike.”
In honor of the nation’s nickname, the little red dot, a series of red accents are infused into various spaces, including in a high-gloss lipstick red piano and accent pillows. Contemporary ceiling light fixtures descend in the form of red and white acrylic tubes.
The hotel lobby features a grab-and-go pavilion, which is transformed into a lounge after dark with the help of multifunctional furniture. The space also features a communal pantry, which features a backdrop of handcrafted chalkboards, display niches, and a rolling ladder. The spacious open-air terrace Retreat is outfitted with a large green wall within a decorative trellis to absorb sound and ensure tranquility. Artist Yeo Chee Kiong crafted a water sculpture comprising reflective chrome balls, enhancing the hotel’s Zen-like aesthetic along with the help of cabanas and sofas scattered throughout the property.
The building boasts sustainable materials, including reconstituted stone floors that mirror a catwalk and high-gloss laminate walls that reflect light. In addition, lobby artwork is made from energy-efficient neon LED lights.
