The Tulum Treehouse has arrived along Mexico’s Caribbean coast near the Yucatán Peninsula. Designed by locally based Co-Lab Design Office and stylist and designer Annabell Kutucu, the five-bedroom jungle retreat emphasizes sustainability by using locally sourced organic materials, resulting in an aesthetic that respects Mexico’s natural landscapes.
The house is constructed of polished, sand-hued concrete and is surrounded by dense tropical foliage. A wooden deck leads to the staircase, which guides guests through the jungle to the front door. In addition, a large roof terrace boasts a 12-person dining area and overlooks the lush area.
Most rooms feature outdoor elements from balconies to wraparound terraces appointed with hammocks or outdoor showers. Hard geometric shapes are softened by the polished concrete and natural Tzalam wood, while dark wood furniture contrasts with muted-toned rugs and upholstery, allowing the natural surroundings to flourish.
