Japanese hotelier Fujita Kanko has announced plans to launch the glamping concept Nordisk Village Goto Islands later this year. Slated for an August 2018 opening, the lodging village will serve as a collaboration between Danish outdoor equipment manufacturer Nordisk and its Japanese subsidiary Nordisk Japan.
The village will be the second in the company’s international portfolio, following the debut of the maiden, 10-tent Nordisk Village, which opened outside Venice in 2017. Located in the Nagasaki Prefecture in southern Japan, the forthcoming village will be constructed on a former elementary school site. The former wooden school building will be revamped to house reception as well as a café and restaurant, and accommodations. Ten tents will comprise the site, complete with two to four beds. Other facilities include a communal kitchen.
Fujita Kanko will also launch its own glamping brand Fujino, with the first opening scheduled this month in Gotemba City in Shizuoka Prefecture near Mt. Fuji.
