Banyan Tree Group’s minimalist brand, Garrya, continues its global expansion with the opening of Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta on the Indonesian island of Java.
Nestled along the banks of Denggung River in Gabugan Village (part of Yogyakarta’s Sleman Regency), the property embraces the beauty of simplicity via a design by Arte Architect and Associates.
Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta celebrates the area’s rich traditions and draws inspiration from Javanese culture and the iconic Yogyakarta temple. Pyramid-like structures are seamlessly integrated into an inner courtyard, complementing a joglo-style lobby adorned with recycled wood.
The resort’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its green building practices and choice of eco-friendly materials, including terracotta bricks and teakwood for intricate carvings.
Accommodations include 24 modern villas; a residential two-bedroom villa with a full-size swimming pool, gazebo, jacuzzi, and a spacious living room; and the signature Wellbeing Sanctuary Villa. Each option boasts clean lines, private plunge pools, and décor that blends Javanese heritage with contemporary design.
In line with the resort’s emphasis on mindfulness and wellbeing, Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta features the 8lements Spa, which includes four treatment rooms and specializes in indigenous wellness therapies rooted in Asian wisdom.
The Garrya brand plans to open four resorts in Vietnam (Mu Cang Chai, Da Nang, Hoi An, and Hoa Binh) and two in China (Xianju and Yangcheng Lake) by 2025.
