The 390-room Hyatt Regency Bethesda in Maryland is receiving a $37 million upgrade from Gensler, slated for completion in early 2017.
An upgraded porte-cochère will complement the modernized façade, welcoming guests to the vibrant lobby. The new area will include a refreshment station as well as a central social space envisioned as an extension of the new guestrooms. A series of communal spaces will serve an array of functions, while touchscreens in the lobby will enable guests to explore local sites and dining in addition to flight status.
Each guestroom and suite will be refreshed with new in-room technology, separate workspaces, and more spacious bathrooms with new showers. New wallcoverings, lighting, and custom furniture will modernize each room, and the revamp will also debut 21 new PURE rooms, which are crafted through a seven-step air purification process that removes up to 99 percent of pollutants and irritants.
More than 20,000 square feet of new meeting and event space will also be unveiled, with 19 newly designed meeting rooms and two executive boardrooms. Large-scale events from weddings to proms will be hosted in the 7,200-square-foot Regency ballroom, which features 16-foot-tall ceilings. The mezzanine level will welcome more intimate gatherings and includes a redesigned open-air terrace with natural lighting from the hotel’s 10-story atrium.
A 2,400-square-foot partially enclosed rooftop venue will be complete with floor-to-ceiling windows offering DC skyline views, an indoor ballroom, and outdoor terrace.
