Hacienda Del Sol Guest Ranch Resort in Tucson, Arizona will complete a $13 million, 32-room expansion, more than doubling its room count to 60 by the end of the month.
The new Catalina rooms—so called for their view of the nearby Santa Catalina mountains—will be positioned on the 34-acre property’s north side and mirror the Santa Fe-style of the existing structures. Completed by Tucson’s Eglin + Bresler Architects and W.E. O’Neil Construction, the six new buildings are arranged in a landscaped, village-like setting with each clad in handpainted Mexican tile murals.
The rooms boast an earth-tone palette with Talavera tile, furniture handcrafted in Mexico, hardwood floors, Southwest-inspired fabrics, and a patio overlooking the mountains or the cityscape. Six will also offer a private outdoor shower.
Hacienda Del Sol also previously completed a new circle drive, expanded the Terraza Garden Patio and Lounge, paved site parking lots, and added a 5,000-square-foot operations and administration building. A 2,900-square-foot ballroom with pre-function space is expected to debut early next year.
A member of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Lifestyle collection, the historic resort was originally completed in 1929 as a ranch school for girls before becoming a guest ranch in 1948. It was rebranded as Hacienda Del Sol Guest Ranch Resort in 1995.
