The summer retreat High Hampton in Cashiers, North Carolina will soon undergo a revitalization at the hand of Walland, Tennessee-based Blackberry Farm Design in collaboration with the property’s owners. Set to reopen in spring 2021, the High Hampton resort will be updated to accentuate its nearly century-old architecture and restore its most historic details.
Traditional, rustic interiors will pair with modern accents and vibrant colors to highlight the unique character of the property. Eclectic social areas will be unified by unexpected focal points—from mixed antiques to artwork sourced from the onsite archive, as well as modern pieces. Accommodations, including 18 guestrooms at the onsite Inn and 40 cottage rooms spread across three cottages, will be enhanced with expanded footprints and new central heat and air systems without compromising the camp-like aesthetic.
“High Hampton has provided countless families with years of idyllic, cherished memories. When restoring the property, our intention was to respect the craftsmanship and classic materials,” says Samantha Feuer, senior interior designer at Blackberry Farm Design. “We worked closely with the National Register of Historic Places to ensure that the iconic elements, such as uniquely shaped doors, handcrafted furniture, original exterior shag bark siding and interior American chestnut walls are preserved, with reimagined comforts that will welcome future generations.”
