Curio – a Collection by Hilton has announced the opening of the Gran Hotel Montesol Ibiza. The property is the first Hilton branded hotel in Ibiza and the first of the Curio collection to arrive in Spain.
Originally established in 1933, the hotel was the first purpose-built hotel on the island and has been declared an asset of cultural interest by UNESCO. The property—located steps from Dalt Vila (or Upper Town), a UNESCO World Heritage site—has been fully refurbished while maintaining its neo-colonial façade, including its white and yellow exterior. Barcelona-based designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán led the design of the 33 guestrooms with most rooms offering views of the old town and harbor.
The ground floor is home to Café Montesol, a prominent social hub since the property first opened, which accommodates up to 300 guests. In addition to the cocktail bar, the café offers views of Vara de Rey Boulevard from the street terrace. A rooftop terrace serves as an meeting venue, and through a partnership the hotel also offers additional meeting accommodations at the nearby Ibiza Archaeological museum.
