The Hotel Erwin is celebrating its return to Venice Beach following an extensive and artful renovation at the hand of Los Angeles-based designer Sally Breer of Co-Mingle. The property features a vibrant design inspired by the soul of the boho beach community, 1970s bohemia, and the flair of the Venice Boardwalk.
Colors and furniture recall the design movements of the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s. The retro blue, green, and yellow palette informs the refresh, which is anchored by textured indigo carpeting. Elliptical orange lamps flank the beds across the 33 suites and 86 guestrooms, while chrome nightstands, whicker chairs, standup orb lamps, and vases of peacock feathers infuse a charming air of eccentricity. Vast sunglow-toned sectional sofas anchor suite living rooms, while private balconies and separate bedrooms offer a spacious retreat.
Public venues include the High Rooftop Lounge, the ground-floor restaurant Barlo Kitchen & Cocktails, and the multifunctional space Larry’s Loft, named for artist Larry Bell, who curated the hotel’s art collection.
