Investment firm Noble Investment Group has announced the opening of the Hotel Indigo Savannah Historic District in Savannah, Georgia. Managed by InterContinental Hotels Group, the 252-room hotel is housed in the former Guckenheimer tobacco warehouse and grocery store, a national landmark originally constructed in 1850 and located in the City Market at Ellis Square neighborhood, once known for its Southern charm and as a hub for commerce.
Guests are greeted by etched glass artwork depicting the city’s famous oak trees, as well as preserved century-old details such as exposed brick and structural timber beams. The building’s east wing also features artwork submitted by students from the nearby Savannah College of Art and Design.
Guestrooms, which include hard-surface flooring and spa-inspired bathrooms, also showcase unique watercolors referencing the original building, and murals by local artist Meryl Turret, which highlight the different bottles unearthed in the historic district.
The Five Oaks Taproom restaurant, a nod to the city’s Spanish moss-clad oak trees, offers locally inspired cuisine and drinks. The hotel also includes a 24-hour fitness center and 6,000 square feet of flexible meeting space.
