Chicago’s historic Atlantic Bank building is undergoing an extensive $75 million overhaul and rebranding into the Hotel Julian. The hotel will become Oxford Capital Group’s flagship property when it debuts in late 2018. Saint Julian Hospitaller, the patron saint of hospitality and travelers, serves as the namesake of the hotel.
Locally based architecture firm Hirsch Associates will oversee the transformation of the historic terracotta façade, integrating it into the skyline with modern upgrades. A five-story addition will crown the Marshall & Fox-designed building, clad in a faceted glass curtain wall, which will span through the base. A folding glass wall will be outfitted within the ground floor’s two-story exterior, offering a window into the Workshop/ADP-designed F&B concept, About Last Knife, as well as the contemporary lobby. With views of Millennium Park, local firm the Gettys Group will design the 218 guestrooms with an emphasis on modern elegance.
