Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the launch of its first Hyatt Centric outpost in Portland, Oregon. Also the brand’s maiden flag in the Pacific Northwest region, the Hyatt Centric Downtown Portland is situated in the heart of the city’s hip West End district.
Portland- and Oakland, California–based Sera Architects collaborated on the project with developer Mortenson. The 220-room hotel pays homage to the area’s distinctive history of craftsmanship through the use of modern industrial and contemporary design elements.
To further evoke a sense of place, a “Portland Penny”—a reference to the 1845 coin toss that determined the city’s name—is placed within every guestroom closet. All 13 suites are also endowed with hand-stitched chicken footstools—a nod to Portland’s farming and agriculture industry.
Hyatt Centric Downtown Portland’s signature restaurant/bar concept, Masia, serves Catalan and Spanish-inspired cuisine.
