The former Hyatt Regency Newport hotel in Rhode Island has kicked off its overhaul this month to undergo its redesign and rebranding as Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina. Spread across 10 acres of Goat Island, the property will receive its makeover from Aspen-based designer Peter Max Bowden.
Clad with an authentic New England aesthetic, the resort will house 257 guestrooms and suites, a fully equipped spa, and a refreshed lobby. An expanded pooldeck, pool club, and kids’ club will be introduced along with a new marina. Two ballrooms ranging from 300 to 650 seats will be featured among the 27,000 square feet of onsite event spaces, in addition to 50,000 square feet of outdoor areas. LDV Hospitality will oversee F&B concepts including the poolside venue Pineapples and the brand’s signature eatery Scarpetta, which will open this May.
