Next month, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts will launch the Hylandia by Shangri-La hotel in Shangri-La City—an urban hideaway in China’s Yunnan province and Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.
More than 10,000 feet above sea level, the 166-room hotel will be owned and operated by Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts and serve as the city’s first global full-service hotel.
Inspired by China’s historic Silk Road caravansaries, the property’s interiors—designed by LTW designworks—will mingle traditional Yunnan and Tibetan styles. Locally sourced pine, limestone, and other native organic materials will be featured throughout.
The majority of staff will be from Diqing and act as local ambassadors, providing guests with an authentic experience rooted in their personal knowledge of the city and region.
Amenities will include two restaurants, Ani’s Kitchen and Hotspot restaurant; a variety of roof spaces and ground level terraces; a ballroom; and four meeting rooms.
