The Hyatt Place brand has debuted in Germany with the launch of Hyatt Place Frankfurt from Hamburg-based JOI-Design. The concept juxtaposes calm, natural elements with high-tech efficiency. The studio employed an urban jungle theme that uses natural materials and palettes to create a connection between the city and nature.
Constructed as part of the commercial development Gateway Gardens at the former Rhein-Main Airbase, the 312-room new-build hotel functions as a hub of activity as its serves one of the largest travel portals in Europe. The warm, welcoming aesthetic also honors traditions of Frankfurt, drawing inspiration from nearby parklands to punctuate the interior with notes of greenery, including rounded, framed moss in the lobby. In addition to assorted green, gray, and white glass pendant lightings, partitions are installed across public spaces in the form of ropes strung from a suspended track in a lattice design that references the network of flights from the nearby airport. The pattern appears in both artwork behind reception as well as the illuminated, circular ceiling structure above a double-sided island.
In the minimalist guestrooms, closets have been eliminated and luggage racks and golden piping serve as hangers. Large desks have been swapped for round, multifunctional tables and streamlined chaise lounges stand in for sofas. Taupe and cream tones adorn freestanding furniture and textiles for a sense of tranquility. Sketched maps provide guests with a quick sense of the region, including the wallcovering that doubles as art in the bedrooms as well as in the meeting rooms, each of which features a series of framed maps that depict sections of the shoreline from Mainz to Koblen.
