Lark Hotels has announced a new luxury resort in Kennebunkport, Maine will join its portfolio this spring. The Kennebunkport Captains Collection will comprise a collection of four renovated residences that previously belonged to sea captains. Rob Blood and Megan Kennedy of Amesbury, Massachusetts-based studio Elder & Ash spearheaded the redesign of the refined abodes.
“While a town like Kennebunkport is rich with unique inns and B&Bs, we feel excited to introduce something different from the rest,” says Lark Hotels CEO Peter Twachtman. “This historic former family compound has become a luxe village resort with something for everyone—a touch of opulence, thoughtful and attentive service, and the opportunity to explore four sea captains’ mansions that have been reinvented to carry their legacy through the coming decades.”
The Kennebunkport Captains Collection will feature a total of 45 guestrooms and suites, ranging from petite single rooms to multi-room suites adorned with locally sourced artwork, working fireplaces, four-poster beds, soaking tubs, and private screened-in porches. Expansive indoor-outdoor common areas will be featured in each transformed house, along with grand drawing rooms, libraries, dining rooms, and gardens. In addition to the newly opened William Jefferds House, the James Fairfield House is slated to open in April, while the remaining Nathaniel Lord Mansion and Acton Patterson House will round out the property’s accommodations upon debuting in May.
The William Jefferds House is defined by a crisp white and soft neutral color palette that accentuates original architectural details and heirloom furnishings. Bold colorways and abstract artwork from Maine artists will characterize the James Fairfield House, and the Acton Patterson House will be punctuated by cozy plaids and distressed leather furnishings. The luxurious Nathaniel Lord Mansion will boast grands beds and opulent draperies.
