Atlanta-based Kent Interior Design has wrapped its guestroom redesign at the Mandarin Oriental, Washington, DC. Featuring schemes inspired by the hotel’s waterfront location and proximity to national monuments, each room reflects the essence of the city.
A residential theme defines the revamped guestrooms, which also honor the hotel’s heritage with touches like custom Asian-inspired cabinets. Other elements include shades of celadon and robin’s egg blue that offset earth tones and dark wood furnishings. Understated wallcoverings, upholstered headboards, and lush carpets and drapery help establish a serene environment. Replacing the traditional desk, round mahogany tables are fixtures of each room, accented by two plush wingback chairs.
A collection of original artwork in the guestrooms complements views of the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, and the city skyline and cherry trees lining the hotel garden. Spa-like marble bathrooms feature rich textiles, elegant vanities, separate soaking tubs, and LED-lit mirrors.
