Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants will open Taconic, a boutique hotel located in Vermont’s historic Manchester Village.
“Manchester’s proximity to New York, Boston, and Montreal, coupled with the unique energy of the town and its people, made it an ideal next destination for Kimpton to plant its roots,” says Joe Capalbo, director of operations for Kimpton in New England.
The hotel, Kimpton’s debut in Vermont, references the adjacent Taconic Mountains in name and style, as well as turn-of-the century New England grand inns, with a contemporary-rustic aesthetic. A residentially inspired lobby, for example, will mimic the entry of a traditional home with a large double-sided fireplace, while the exterior will boast an expansive wraparound porch.
Conceived by Boston designer Peter Niemitz, Taconic’s 87 New England-style accommodations will include six suites and three standalone cottages with names that nod to Manchester, three-bedroom layouts, and views of the Green and Taconic Mountains. All accommodations will be clad with oak furnishings and vintage flourishes, like pastoral art that was curated from the Manchester Historical Society.
More than 9,600 square feet of meeting and event space will include the library, solarium, and 2,800-square-foot Trillium ballroom, which is divisible by three equal sections and adjoins the Trillium Terrace via double doors. This outdoor terrace will overlook the hotel’s 400-person event lawn, the Green.
Additional amenities will include a fitness center, private ensuite spa services, a retail outlet, and photography expeditions led by locally based photographer Les Jorgensen. Partnerships with nearby Hildene, the Lincoln Family Home, and Manchester Country Club will also provide Taconic guests with access to each location’s cross-country skiing and snowshoeing courses in the winter.
