Construction has begun on the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe‘s new Lake Club. Designs from Clare Walton of Tahoe City, California-based Walton Architecture + Engineering will embrace the majestic natural setting of the property, the region’s first and only AAA Five Diamond resort.
The stately, multilevel dining room and bar will offer panoramic views and direct access to the expansive 2,000-square-foot lawn, the lakefront beach, and a private boat pier. Floor-to-ceiling windows will be featured throughout the club to maximize the peerless views. Organic materials such as stone and cedar will also be prominently used in the design, establishing a warm offset to the contemporary steel and glass details. Offering an outdoor fireplace, the 950-square-foot rooftop dining terrace will connect to the main 600-square-foot terrace via a glass-enclosed external staircase.
“Our intention is to create a space that complements the rugged landscape with a clean, modern aesthetic,” says Walton. “The transparency of our design allows guests to connect immediately with the setting and flow seamlessly between interior and exterior social gathering spaces.”
The extension is set to open in the summer of 2017.
