Lark Hotels has unveiled Blind Tiger, its second property in Portland, Maine. The nine-room guest house and gathering space features a design by Newburyport, Massachusetts-based design studio Elder & Ash to reflect the creative and progressive spirit of the locale.
Nestled between the West End and Old Port neighborhoods, Blind Tiger resides within a Federal-style mansion first constructed in the 19th century. Original details like a rooftop cupola and a clandestine billiards room in the basement are preserved to illustrate the diverse heritage of the site. A bold color palette is paired with natural textures in Blind Tiger’s living and bar rooms, which recall the building’s prominence as a social corner during Prohibition.
The property’s nine guestrooms feature a distinctive design, each detailed with vintage furnishings that recall the city’s historic bond with modern art.
