Marriott International has reopened the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club & Spa, following a three-month closure and redesign to initiate preparations for a total brand conversion.
Located on Marco Island, Florida, the 726-room hotel has completed its first phase of redevelopment and will be reimagined as a JW Marriott-branded property upon completion of its $250 million renovation.
Designed by Coral Gables, Florida-based EoA, the hotel now features enlarged pool decks and guestrooms, a revamped lobby, a newly transformed entrance, and the conversion of the Tropicks restaurant as MAIA. Other F&B outlets Quinn’s, Pazzi’s, and Cafe San Marco have also reopened.
The second phase—to be complete next December—is already underway and will include the construction of the 94-room, adults-only Lanai tower and rooftop pool, the opening of the oceanfront Tiki Bar this fall, the rebranding of the Kurrents restaurant as ARIO in mid-September, and a par 72 golf course to reopen this October.
To fully debut in January of 2017, the site will be the first oceanfront JW Marriott hotel and will feature 100,000 square feet of event space, 810 guestrooms, and a refreshed, 24,000-square-foot spa.
