Marriott International has completed a deal with Özyer Group to launch its Luxury Collection brand in Hungary with the debut of Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel. Slated to open in early 2019, the hotel will span 130 elegant guestrooms and suites within the palatial neo-baroque structure at the gateway to the Elisabeth Bridge.
Constructed between 1899 and 1902 by architect Kálmán Giergl, the building mirrors the design of its sister structure, the Klotild Palace. Both buildings include large copies of the crown of the Archduke atop their respective towers. The historic Matild Café, a Sky Bar, and signature restaurant will also be housed onsite.
