Designed by Hong Kong–based studio Panorama Design Group, the new MeeHotel in Shenzhen, China draws its inspiration from the bamboo forest.
Spread across more than 66,000 square feet, the hotel honors its muse with bamboo elements in public spaces, including full-height screens created by a traditional weaver to define the reception and lobby lounge area. The urban retreat is also outfitted with pitched roof ceilings and a natural diatom mud finishing on the walls.
Additionally, the bamboo and rattan theme continues into the guestrooms, where a woven display is installed at the head of each bed. Double-height courtyards are also featured on many guestroom floors to further promote a sense of calm and tranquility.
The Sky Café crowns the property, offering a Zen-inspired experience within a full-height bamboo structure. Circular LED light fixtures are suspended from the ceiling to compose a poetic atmosphere after sunset.
