Spanish hotel chain Meliá Hotels has unveiled its maiden property in Thailand along the shoreline of Choeng Mon Beach.
Home to 159 guestrooms and 41 suites, Meliá Koh Samui pays homage to the island’s history as a safe haven for sailors and sea traders through a design by Bangkok-based PIA. A number of restored century-old merchant vessels have been converted into two-story boat suites, ranging from 980 to 1,075 square feet, with views of the sea, onsite gardens, and direct access to the resort’s pools. Deluxe rooms feature standalone bathtubs on private balconies, while 1,120-square-foot family suites include sofas and dining tables.
In addition to events facilities and a fitness center, onside F&B options include the Breeza Beach Restaurant and Bar, the experiential Koko Kitchen, a pool bar, and Boat’s Bar in the semi-open lobby. A two-level infinity pool is outfitted with sunken seating areas, while a lagoon pool spans more than 17,000 square feet.
