The MGM Springfield in Massachusetts has announced the lineup of design and architecture firms collaborating on the $960 million development. The property is slated to debut in the third quarter of 2018 with a design that reflects the heritage of western Massachusetts, channeling the minds of industrial tycoons that shaped Springfield into a hub of arts and innovation.
Los Angeles-based Avenue Interior Design will oversee the design of the hotel’s lobby and its signature Italian restaurant, while fellow LA design practice Bishop Pass will craft the onsite steakhouse and South End Market. Las Vegas’ Friedmutter Group will serve as the project’s design architect and architect of record, conceiving the master plan and exterior design. The firm will also develop the design for the casino floor and all nightlife and bar venues. Locally based Specs Design Group will spearhead the design of the casino’s poker area, retail, and employee spaces. The spa will be crafted by Washington, DC-based Marshall Moya Design, and Costa Mesa, California-based Studio McCormack will lead the design of the Tap Sports bar, arcade, restaurant, and 10-lane bowling alley.
MGM’s in-house team will tackle the design of the boutique hotel’s 250 guestrooms and suites.
