Coworking space and social club NeueHouse has added its third Los Angeles location along Market Street in Venice. Crafted by Toronto-based DesignAgency, the members-only NeueHouse Venice Beach embodies the brand’s signature cosmopolitan sophistication as well as the creative spirit of its seaside neighborhood.
“We set out to capture the vitality and romance of its iconic Market Street location and the artsy, entrepreneurial spirit of Venice Beach,” says DesignAgency founding partner Anwar Mekhayech. “We arrived at a series of inspirational impulses that guided our approach. These included nods to Venice Beach’s current creative community, natural craft, the concept of an endless summer, and the chronicles of its legends.”
Classic California modernism also shapes an atmosphere lined with warm, earthbound materials like ceramic tiles, textural fabrics, and natural teak. The organic palette further conveys a sense of openness across freeform public spaces accented by abundant greenery and artwork (the social hub’s art collection even includes a piece by David Hockney).
“A laid-back, approachable mood and the timeless sophistication of modern midcentury style embrace the sensibilities of both NeueHouse and the neighborhood,” Mekhayech adds. Reunion, an indoor-outdoor rooftop oasis on the second floor, is anchored by a skylit bar that serves as a haven for members once laptops close for the day. Beyond the large rolling garage door that punctuates the site’s original brick façade, a discreet back entrance connects to showers and a surfboard quiver—a further nod to Venice’s city-meets-surf vibe.
