In collaboration with RCD Resorts, Nobu Hospitality—a private company owned by chef Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro, and Meir Teper—will open its first Nobu Hotel in Mexico, the Nobu Hotel Los Cabos, in 2017.
“We are extremely pleased to continue our collaboration with Nobu Hospitality, and introduce the Nobu hotel experience to Mexico,” says Roberto Chapur Sr., chairman of RCD Resorts. “Through this partnership, our aim for the Nobu Hotel is to redefine the beachfront experience and offerings for luxury resorts. Our contribution to the development of Los Cabos reflects our passion and longstanding commitment to see the destination continue to thrive as one of the greatest in the world.”
The 200-room property is Nobu Hospitality’s ninth hotel and the second joint property between Nobu and RCD Resorts following the announcement of the Nobu Hotel Eden Roc Miami Beach.
“We are exceptionally proud to extend our partnership with RCD Resorts, as they have demonstrated their vision and aptitude for leading innovation in world class resort developments,” says Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality. “The Nobu Hotel Los Cabos will represent a new and differentiated luxury product, which will be unique for both Los Cabos and the wider resort community.”
Monica Cuervo and Mark Yoshizaki of WATG’s Irvine, California office will serve as lead architects for the project, while Severine Tatangelo of Malibu, California-based Studio PCH will head the design of the interiors and Nobu restaurant.
Accommodations and suites will feature a contemporary Japan-inspired design highlighting natural materials. The resort will also feature a signature Nobu restaurant and bar, event and meeting space, a spa, retail stores, and a variety of dining and lounging experiences.
