The Oetker Collection has added two hotels to its pipeline, with one scheduled to open in Brazil in 2017 and another to open in New York the following year.
São Paulo’s Palácio Tangará, named for the area’s Tanager songbird, will be surrounded by Burle Marx Park, which features gardens designed by its namesake landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx. Collaboratively conceived by Brazilian interior designers William Simonato and Patricia Anastassiadis, the luxury hotel will offer 141 guestrooms, which will include 55 suites overlooking the park.
Amenities will include several F&B outlets with outdoor terraces, such as a signature chef-driven restaurant, chef’s table, lobby and lounge bar, and a wine cellar; 11 function rooms with a 360-person ballroom; indoor and outdoor pools; a kid’s club; as well as a fitness center and spa with a private garden.
To be converted from the former Sony Tower—a postmodern structure conceived by Philip Johnson in 1984 as AT&T’s headquarters—another to-be-named hotel is slated to open near Manhattan’s Central Park.
The 43-story landmark property will feature 170 rooms with 60 suites that span eight floors. Amenities will include a bar and lounge area, a gourmet restaurant, a spa, a fitness center, and pool.
The New Yorker Chetrit Group, which owns the building, will also construct 115 luxury apartments across floors 21 through 43, which will be designed by locally based Robert Stern.
