Omaha’s new Capitol District is set to make its debut this month, with the launch of its first phase—a new mixed-use development that accommodates new residences, offices, retail, and outdoor entertainment. Also included in the project will be the Omaha Marriott Downtown at the Capitol District. Spanning 12 stories, the 333-room outpost will be designed by locally based architecture practice Leo A Daly.
The glass façade and the winged corners on its southside offer unprecedented views of the city skyline and cast the building aglow after sunset. The hotel is also home to 17,000 square feet of versatile meeting space in addition to amenities like a restaurant and bar, spacious fitness center, and rooftop swimming pool complete with an attached bar and entertainment area. Welcoming guests, the grand lobby will accommodate lounging, dining, and cocktails across the intimate gathering space. Local materials including brick and iron will echo the warehouse styles of the neighborhood, while wood paneling will pay homage to the city’s roots and make a sophisticated, modern statement.
The 218-unit Capitol District Apartments bookend the development on east and west, both featuring public-facing retail and bar spaces that spill onto the central plaza. A third retail building on the north side will complete the project once finished in spring 2018.
