Italian architect Piero Lissoni has completed the multiyear renovation of Jerusalem’s 5-Star hotel David Citadel, which stands opposite the walls of the Old City. Upgrades include a refresh of the 385 guestrooms, 41 suites, seven grand suites, and most public spaces.
Embracing the warm atmosphere of the Middle East city, Lissoni’s design incorporates ample natural light, regionally inspired colors, and artwork from Scottish artist’s David Roberts’ 1834 tour of Egypt. Oak parquet floors, abundant greenery, soft lighting, and richly colored and textured fabrics are also featured throughout the property. Each guestroom and suite features relaxing seating areas, spacious bathrooms with separate showers and tubs, and either a king-sized bed or two twin beds.
