The Plant Riverside District, the largest redevelopment in the history of Savannah, Georgia’s National Historic Landmark District, is slated to open in March 2020. Spread across more than 650,000 square feet, the entertainment, dining, and retail hub will be anchored by the forthcoming JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District as well. Home to 419 guestrooms and suites along with events and wellness-oriented spaces, the new JW outpost will be designed by Diana Kessler of Kessler Collection Design Studio around three major themes: the natural sciences, beauty, and water.
In addition, a natural science exhibition will open onsite, complete with a 137-foot-tall chrome dinosaur display. Beauty will be promoted through design-driven retail venues, while water elements will be woven through the interiors to reference Savannah’s legacy as a port city.
