Pod Hotels has launched its first location outside of New York with Pod DC. The 245-room microhotel from BD Hotels has arrived in Washington, DC’s Chinatown neighborhood, emphasizing efficiency with a midcentury design with a modern twist from New York firm Stonehill & Taylor.
Curated artwork and photography anchors the property in local identity with lobby walls set to feature artists thanks to a partnership with CulturalDC.
Sleek guestrooms range from double to queen and bunkbed configurations. Each is equipped with built-in storage and technology to maximize the space. Royal blue finishes are accented by cheerful yellow tones that glisten in the ample natural light provided from large windows. Views of Chinatown and Penn Quarter will serve as the backdrop to each room, with some even looking out to the iconic Chinatown-Friendship Archway. Bathrooms are accessed via sliding barn doors and outfitted with rain showerheads and sleek terrazzo flooring.
The onsite eatery Crimson Diner conveys warmth with its design from architect and design Michael Francis of SAINT, Studio for Architecture and Interiors. Crimson Diner also features the street-level concept Crimson Whiskey Bar. An indoor-outdoor rooftop concept will round out the hotel’s F&B venues.
