Raffles Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to expand its Chinese portfolio with a new location in the ancient city of Suzhou. In an agreement with real estate developer Jiangsu Golden Land, the brand is planning the launch of the 150-guestroom Raffles Suzhou within the Kenye International Suzhou super highrise.
The new hotel will include a state-of-the-art Raffles Spa, five F&B venues—including the signature Writer’s and Long Bars—and 15,000 square feet of meeting and conference space. A limited number of Raffles Residences will also be included in the development.
Nicknamed the Venice of the Orient, Suzhou boasts a 2,500-year history and famous sites like the Zhouzhuang Water Town, the Hanshan Temple, and the Zhuozheng Garden. The city’s two metro lines are expected to be joined by three additional lines by 2021.
Raffles’ Chinese portfolio includes the Raffles Beijing and the Raffles Hainan, with a Shenzhen location slated to open in 2019. Properties in Jakarta, Manila, and Cambodia are also part of the brand’s Asian expansion.
Raffles Suzhou is expected to debut in 2020.
