The Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel, located in Chicago’s Theater District, will unveil its $27 million guestrooms and lobby renovation this month.
Local culture is referenced in lobby and wallpaper art, such as a depiction of the Chicago L map in the lobby elevators; life-size photos and sculptures throughout the property; and a multidimensional mural of pencils depicting a city cab. Lobby pillars each feature a different a taxi piece creating an optical illusion of a single cab when viewed from the correct perspective, while live events and hotel programming will be facilitated via stair seating. Chicago Transit Authority bus-inspired turn-of-the-century windows peer into the chef’s display kitchen at the Staytion restaurant.
The 520 guestrooms and 40 suites have been revamped with new casegoods, tile bathrooms floors, and marble accents. Amenities include a VIP club lounge, artist studio, coffee bar, a restaurant, and library.
