Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has announced that it will assume management of the historic Hotel Bauer in Venice, Italy. Situated within the picturesque San Marco district, the property is set to undergo a multiphase renovation, beginning in November, and reopen in 2025 as the Rosewood Hotel Bauer. Originally constructed in 1880, the site will receive its facelift from local architect Alberto Torsello and Melbourne-based BAR Studio.
“We are thrilled to be growing Rosewood’s presence in Europe with this pivotal addition in such a magnificent and beloved city like Venice,” says Radha Arora, Rosewood president and co-chief development officer. “Across our portfolio, we have been honored with opportunities to restore and reimagine many historic spaces across the globe, and we are incredibly thankful that Rosewood has been to be chosen to help breathe new life into Hotel Bauer.”
The site’s historic framework will be repaired and integrated into a new design, which will also accentuate the original façade. In addition to more than 110 guestrooms—more than half of which will be suites—Rosewood Hotel Bauer will be home to a casual restaurant and wine bar on the ground floor, a refined Venetian eatery, and a rooftop bar equipped with a traditional Venetian altana. The rooftop will also feature a garden overlooking the city, while an outdoor pool and luxury wellness center will be located on the eighth floor. More than 32,000 square feet of luxury retail space will be integrated into the property at the rear of the building as well.
