Sonesta has completed the renovation of the Royal Sonesta New Orleans, a 483-room property, including 36 suites, in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter. In addition to the guestrooms, the public spaces also were refreshed.
The renovations began with a reimagining of the Desire Oyster Bar, the hotel’s casual restaurant, which was designed to blend the property’s original aesthetics with modern elements including decorative iron grillwork, oversized windows, an antique mirror, tin ceiling, and black and white checkered floors. The theme of upgrading the classic with modern touches was continued in the guestrooms, which feature traditional gabled windows, wrought-iron balconies, rich colors, and linens accented with fresh flowers.Â
Other changes include new furniture, artwork, and a warm color palette in the lobby; new free weights and state of the art equipment for the fitness center; and an addition of 29 new rooms to the hotel’s R Club level, which features access to the R Club lounge, and an elevated level of personalized service and amenities.
“We’re thrilled to unveil our reimagined Royal Sonesta New Orleans,” says Carlos Flores, president and CEO of Sonesta International Hotels Corporation. “This is an iconic Sonesta property with its prime location in the French Quarter, and we know our guests will enjoy an even higher level of comfort and service as a result of these upgrades which truly bring the spirit of New Orleans to the forefront of the experience.”
The renovation of the Royal Sonesta New Orleans is part of the $250 million investment Sonesta made to upgrade and redesign its U.S. collection in 2015.Â
