Coworking space The Ruby Street has debuted in the historic Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. The concept is housed within a 19th-century building that had previous lives as a progressive church and a civil rights meeting place. The property was purchased by creative couple Lourdes Hernandez and Zach Leigh, who commissioned locally based interior designer Francesca de la Fuente and multidisciplinary studio Working Holiday to transform the space.
Spread across two floors and 4,000 square feet, the Ruby Street comprises two large open rooms—Reception Hall and Worship Hall—and two smaller rooms. Original architectural features, like large stained glass windows, and new elements, including oak floors and skylights, are complemented by a refreshed color palette.
Two long custom wood tables are surrounded by sage and rose seats in the Reception Hall, while a vintage orange sofa and leather armchairs mark the Worship Hall. The coworking concept also features a 4,000-square-foot outdoor space to host screenings and communal meals.
