Meliá Hotels International is developing its presence in China with the signing of the Meliá Shanghai Hongqiao, increasing the company’s portfolio in China to eight properties.
The 190-room hotel is part of the Golden United Group-developed Lidoway project in Shanghai—a major mixed-use complex in Hongqiao featuring a wide range of commercial and entertainment facilities, dining outlets, alfresco areas, and high-end residential villas.
The complex is intended to become West Shanghai’s central business hub and will be integrated with the Hongqiao Transportation Hub near the new 15.8-million-square-foot National Convention and Exhibition Center—one of the world’s largest exhibition spaces.
Slated to open in July 2016, Meliá Shanghai Hongqiao’s amenities will include meeting rooms, two F&B outlets, and an executive lounge.
The Asia Pacific region has become one of the main strategic growth areas for Meliá Hotels International, which opened a corporate hub in Shanghai in 2011.
