Shenandoah Mansions—a 73-key hotel designed and owned by hospitality company Ash—will open its doors in February 2025 in Richmond, Virginia.
Occupying a six-story historic apartment building—once home to community leaders and activists—the forthcoming concept in the city’s Fan district will maintain the storied residence’s red brick exterior and feature the third location of Ash–Bar, the brand’s all-day restaurant designed in a refined-yet-unfussy tavern style.
A destination where fantasy meets folklore, Shenandoah Mansions greets guests with a lobby featuring hand-painted trompe l’oeil wood grain and a grand staircase leading towards long, winding corridors where the guestrooms and suites are located.
Heavy wooden doors open to reveal bright and airy guestrooms whitewashed and furnished with grand four-poster beds in gemstone colors with block-printed quilts, a nod to the folk artists still practicing in the Shenandoah Valley. The rooms boast expansive bay windows, cinematic drapery, pine wood floors, and motifs inspired by American folk art, while bathrooms are adorned with imaginative hand-painted tiles.
Shenandoah Mansions will be the fifth property in Ash’s portfolio, which includes Hotel Peter & Paul in New Orleans and Ulysses in Baltimore.
