A former Peloton gym in New York’s West Village has been transformed into a modern dermatology office, courtesy of Menino Design Studio and the Archives.
Located on the ground floor of a landmark building, New Bloom Dermatology celebrates the structure’s existing architectural details, while creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
An external arched façade welcomes clients into the reception area—where the building’s curved ceiling is preserved at full height—with a desk made of marble sourced from a historic Tuscan quarry.
An arched doorway leads into the treatment rooms, while a curved wall of custom oak paneling conceals two offices and a bathroom, creating a sense of fluidity and clean minimalism.
European oak flooring, Venetian plaster walls, bespoke frameless doors, and custom oak slatted shelving create a tranquil and luxurious ambiance that moves away from traditional medical office aesthetics.
Lighting plays a key role in the design, which is used to thoughtfully illuminate and accentuate the arches of the space. Sconces provide soft lighting in the main reception and rear office areas, while brass Sputnik chandeliers and custom lit marble slats lend a touch of sophistication.
In the rear of the office is a secondary reception desk, made of curved marble and wooden slats, complemented by wallpaper featuring a pattern inspired by the Japanese concept of blooming—a theme that is also found in the blue porcelain mosaic in the office’s secondary bathroom.
