London-based design practice Areen Design is transforming the 25-story, 224-room Sheraton Madagascar in the city of Antananarivo. The property-wide refresh is slated for completion during the first quarter of 2018.
“Our design team were also inspired by the project’s location,” notes Andrew Linwood, head of Areen’s hospitality design. “I believe our interior spaces now incorporate a strong flavor of the locality and the Malagasy heritage; from striking patterns and colors, to structures and metalwork. The standards international travelers expect from Sheraton have still been provided but with more than a firm nod toward local influence.”
