Sir hotels will launch its fourth location this spring with the opening of the Sir Nikolai in Hamburg. Housed within a historic warehouse along the banks of the Nikolaifleet canal, the hotel features designs by Amsterdam-based firm FG Stijl, which will transform the warehouse into an elegant and modern environment that honors the character of the city with custom furniture, vintage furnishings, and artwork sourced locally.
Rather than entering a classic lobby, guests are welcomed into a library with an open fireplace, large bookshelves and a cozy lounge area. From the adjoining atrium, the Patio (with an open fireplace and a retractable glass roof), the Entourage Group’s Izakaya Asian Kitchen & Bar takes center stage and extends all the way to two sun terraces. All areas flow into each other and offer intimate seating corners, a large wooden communal table, a 360-degree bar, and a private dining area for meetings or events.
All 94 guestrooms and suites will feature queen- and king-sized beds, chaise lounges, armchairs, and working desks in a palette of emerald, mustard, and petrol. Artwork, historic photographs, and vintage nautical charts will pay homage to the city.
Arriving in the second half of 2017, the 3,230-square-foot spa will open on the lower level, housing three treatment rooms a pool, steam bath, fitness center, and sauna, which will offer water views via floor-to-ceiling windows.
