New York-based real estate developer HFZ Capital Group has announced the launch of the first Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas in New York. Located in the Eleventh, a mixed-use development along the city’s High Line park, the forthcoming hotel will serve as the Bangkok-based brand’s North American flagship.
“It’s an urban location, yet our site is flanked by the greenery of the High Line and the calm of the Hudson River,” says HFZ chairman and founder Ziel Feldman. “Six Senses operates some of the most beautiful eco-conscious resorts in the world and we knew they were the right partner to explore that connection to nature and create something unique to New York City.”
The brand’s maiden U.S. property, the Six Senses New York will offer 137 guestrooms and a large spa within its East tower. The urban outpost will join Six Senses’ current portfolio of 10 resorts and 28 spas, including locations in Thailand, the Maldives, Oman, and Portugal.
Designed by Copenhagen and New York-based Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), the Eleventh is slated to debut in 2019, with two towers between the High Line and the Hudson River. The complex will feature architecture inspired by some of New York’s modernist structures while also skewing traditional geometry with rotating forms. Rising 300 and 400 feet, respectively, the towers will be outfitted with stone and metal façades and punched window openings—a nod to the Chelsea neighborhood’s industrial roots. The Eleventh will house approximately 240 residences across both buildings.
