Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas made its European debut this month in Portugal with the opening of its 10th property—Six Senses Douro Valley.
Located in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Douro Valley, the 57-room hotel sits on a 20-acre property and features 19th century architecture with contemporary interiors designed by New York-based Clodagh Design. A palette of light grays and earth tones with natural stone, wood, and water elements add to the modern design.
Guest accommodations include superior, deluxe, and river rooms, as well as larger suites and villas with one, two and three bedrooms.

Dining options include the Vale d’Abraão open kitchen and dining room, the Quinta Bar and Lounge, and the Wine Library & Terrace—an eatery that connects to a stone terrace where movies are shown on a big screen.

The 24,000-square-foot Six Senses Spa provides guests with 10 treatment rooms, a heated indoor swimming pool, steam room, sauna, and laconium.
Additional amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, an activities hut, a gym, aerial yoga, and onsite personal trainers.
