Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is continuing its Tribute Portfolio expansion with the addition of the Great Northern Hotel, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel in London—the collection’s first European location.
Designed by Victorian-era master builder Lewis Cubitt, the historic property debuted in 1854 within London’s King’s Cross neighborhood. Locally based Archer Humphryes Architects redesigned the upscale boutique hotel in 2013.
It is located nearby the Eurostar terminus at St. Pancras train station.
Accommodations include the Cubitt rooms, which feature high ceilings and twin sash windows; the Couchette rooms, which were inspired by a traditional railway sleeper car; and the top-floor Wainscot rooms, outfitted with high mansard-style ceilings lined in black American walnut wainscot paneling.
The hotel also offers several F&B options, such as King’s Cross Kiosk; Plum + Spilt Milk, studded with 120 blown-glass pendants and banquette furniture; and the GNH Bar, a venue that opens directly onto King’s Cross station and features etched-mirror ceilings, a pewter and marble bar, and two grand crystal chandeliers.
