Pod Hotels has opened the first micro-hotel in Philadelphia with its launch of the Pod Philly, designed by New York-based architecture firm Stonehill Taylor to entice savvy business and leisure travelers alike.
The sixth output in the brand’s portfolio, the hotel’s 234 guestrooms and 18 studios are conceived with thoughtful references to the city’s industrial roots, like the precast concrete slabs and metal joints adorning the ceilings. Further emphasizing the raw influence is the cove lighting on the perimeter of the ceilings, illuminating the sanded surface’s rough look and feel, while the gloss-black painted metal echoes the color of the guestroom door.
One of the three distinct F&B venues onsite is the 140-seat contemporary concept Condesa, which echoes the vibrant flair of its namesake in Mexico City. The all-day space El Café serves as a bakery and coffee venue, while El Techo on the property’s 11th floor features communal tables with the backdrop of skyline views.
