The cavernous new self-care space of Shanghai, Natural Beauty Salon, has unveiled its design by the locally based Studio DOTCOF. Meticulously curated to offset the bustle of big city life, the salon spreads across 1,830 square feet, and welcomes its guests with a consultation space adjacent to the reception area.
Atop the consultation room is the mezzanine floor which is expanded from its original version in order to maximize the height of the ceilings. Hosting the communal lounge, the vertical wood battens lining its interior aim to reflect the height and exude an uplifting quality. Floor slabs are conceived as floating platforms upon water in the water tunnel cave enclosed by creamy white travertine stones.
Each treatment room is wrapped in authentic wood paneling for warmth and intimacy, while cabinets are concealed in the walls to ensure a uniform appearance across the units.
