The Royal Lancaster London is set to reopen this September following a $98.7 million renovation led by locally based Studio Proof. The refresh will coincide with the 18-story hotel’s 50th anniversary.
A striking new entrance façade and reception lobby will punctuate the arrival experience of the midcentury-style property. Anchored by a curved white marble staircase, the lobby will be divided into several individual spaces, including a new bar. A restrained color palette will complement the property’s craftsmanship, joinery, and metalwork as well as timeless metals, such as gold, brass, and bronze. Featured prominently inside, those hues will also be used on the glazed façade.
All 411 guestrooms and suites will debut new designs that maximize property views of Hyde Park and include luxurious detailing such as bronze and glass elements and bespoke light fixtures. New suites will also recall the hotel’s 1960s roots with midcentury nuances and quirky English character through a contemporary lens.
