Brooklyn-based Studio Tack has crafted the Coachman Hotel in Lake Tahoe. The hotel underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation to convert it from a 1960s motel to its current iteration as a design-centric property that embraces modernity and sustainability. It is located at the base of Heavenly Mountain.
“We want to provide visitors to Lake Tahoe with a space that is comfortable yet hip, creating a sense of community while paying tribute to the beauty of the landscape and the history of the property,” says the Coachman’s managing director Justin Watzka.
The hotel features furniture and other pieces from American artisans, including handcrafted beds in each of the 42 guestrooms and suites.
The design lends itself to outdoor access throughout the year. Amenities include custom poured hot tubs, outdoor firepits, a lobby bar, and games by the pool in the summer.
